Hi all :)
I need some advice as to what pair of riding boots I should buy. I will hopefully be going to work on horse farms in Ecuador, south Carolina and either Vancouver or Costa Rica, next summer, it will be mainly riding so I need some nice riding boots that will be ok to do everything in, like jobs round the yard, bring in, turn out, etc etc but will be cool enough to ride in for 3-4hours at a time. I currently either ride in mountain horse sportive II or HKM paris boots, both of which get a bit too warm even in the 20 degrees here in UK, so they will cook my feet if I were to ride in them in mid day heat, in middle of summer in Ecuador.
So any recommendations??? :)
Thank you!

i'll have a look :) I've heard that Equitectors are supposed to be good? Any views on those??? There's a pair in my size on ebay, long black ones, exactly what I normally go for, but would I be better off with short ones and gaiters for that sort of heat or will the long ones be ok??

My advice would be to definitely go short boots and gaiters. I wear tall boots in winter here, but almost everyone here wears gaiters in summer. They are the first things I take off after riding, even before helmet.

I live in the same area as Donski.

In summer, it's 30+ degrees celsius. Most of us ride in short boots and gaiters... When it's really really hot, I skip the gaiters altogether and ride in short boots with long socks pulled up over my leggings (no breeches) :)

I ride in Ariat boots and have suede Dublin gaiters - I find them a lot cooler to ride in than leather ones.

Also a ventilated helmet is your friend! Almost all the helmets here are ventillated. I ride in a Dublin Arista, so comfy and not super hot in the summer.

Thank you everyone :) I will definitely look into those. And although I am tempted by the long Equitectors on ebay, I will go for short boots, they'll be lighter and easier to pack in the bag too :)

Hiya - I actually ride in long boots most of the time here (broginis as they are very thin, soft leather) but its been 39degrees here this week so have just resorted to basic jodhpur boots (pretty sure they don't have a brand) with no chaps - not everyone's cup of tea but helps in the heat!
Invest in some good quality thin Jodhs - I have to say my kingslands are the best because of the type of material but obviously you aren't going to want to do stable tasks in them so I usually just wear thin leggings rather than Jodhs or the shorts and boots look - very attractive ;)
Not sure I would suggest HKM boots though as I had a pair of these but they fell apart very quickly - not sure if it was the heat or I just got a faulty pair but something to keep in mind :)
Thin socks are also a must - think the nylon kingsland cooler ones like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00BR0QNWQ - either that or I ride in ankle socks, again not everyone's cup of tea but every bit helps :)

Thank you :) I will definitely invest in some think cool socks as all the ones I have are skiing socks! I will have a look at different jodhpur boots, and gaiters. Will also buy lots of leggings :)
I will also have to invest in a good sports bra as I usually rely on my body protector to hold my boobs in place, but i'm afraid I may overheat a little bit if I was to ride in my BP mid summer in Ecuador! :)
