Had a strange experience walking the doggy today.Loki is a Husky x Lab and generally a very well behaved, loving dog.

My partner and I took him for walk and he was having fun ambling about our local Abbey when he started barking and 'playing' with something. We get closer and he looks at us with that "I'm not doing anything mum" look on his face when he, in fact, had a HUUGGEEE toad in his mouth. He dropped it when asked but then started licking his lips and spitting out a lot of frothy saliva! Toad was still alive, he hadn't even broken the skin but we were so appalled we rang the vets as he was really dribbling everywhere!

I admit I've never had a dog v toad incident before and hadn't known that they can be toxic! Vet assured us that so long as he hadn't eaten it or even pierced the skin he should be fine with just having his mouth rinsed out, lots of fluids and to keep an eye on him. I feel bad for not having known this before!!

Anybody else had an incident like this?

Yes my friend's GSD did this - last thing at night so late night trip to the vets for her! Dog recovered but gave my friend a few anxious hours.

Hope your dog gets over it quickly.
