Today...

I paid my vet bill for Rumour who was PTS on 15th June.

Pretty pointless post, but just to say that there was a huge lump in my throat when I did it.

My thoughts go out to all those on HHO who have lost, in the past, or recently, their beloved horses.

It's tough, but in time, the pain will get better, but the memories will always linger on.

It really does get better with time. I lost my pony in 2004, he'd been a member of the family for 17 years. I took over a year to get over it, be able to talk about him without get upset or defensive but I can now look back and remember all the fun we had, I rarely think of him when he was ill (only lasted about a month). The bill is tough but it's almost like an end to it all, from now on all you have to think about is good memories and try to forget the end.

I lost my beloved Ellie Christmas before last

....it still hurts like hell to remember I've lost her and I think about her all the time but it does get easier...sort of
