my OH.

He is utterly non-horsey and I have been ill with this cold. Seems to be since I had concussion, the slightest thing beats me :(

I mentioned I absolutely have to exercise my pony for Sundays show and he asked in all seriousness what he has to do. Now I love him to bits but it doesn't bear thinking about, him trying to ride my pony when he's sat on horses twice in his life for a pootle.

He then gave me a look that said don't be daft, "I can lunge her. What do I need to do?"

Cue images of him running and pony standing still, lunging him! Bless him, he was very serious but I'm sure I had a look of horror.

No, I'm now able to stand up so will exercise her myself, but he is a saint for being willing to help, considering all of the cheeky things my pony does (including the day she pulled the lunge line out my hand and legged it back to yard).

What saints of OHs do you have?

Arrr bless him. :)

Least your OH offers to help, more than my hubby will do these days.

He spent years helping me out I must admit, mucking out, being the goffa at horse shows etc and done the odd bit of riding but now he's gone the complete opposite way, he won't even touch Mr M.

I think over the years he's seen some pretty dangerous stuff happen (not always with me or my own horses) but he's also seen what Mr M has been like so he'll never trust him agani, its really made him realise how dangerous they potentially can be, so my non horsey OH is now even more non horsey than he was before! :(

Aww thats a shame Kenzo.
I am lucky in that he does realise how they are and regardless of how cheeky my pony can be, knows she is as safe as can be.

He also had a lot of say and came to view my youngster when looking at a second pony so he had an opinion of which pony I got and ironically he agreed with the unhandled pony instead of the calm, placid, didn't blink an eye at anything pony. Although he's not a fan of horses, he can treat my older pony like a big dog and it did make him see her in a different light as opposed to a horse that cost £££, ***** and at one point I fell off every weekend due to my lack of balance.

I am VERY lucky with him. :D

A former OH of mine once suggested he might get on my youngster to "sort her out" for me as he thought she just wouldn't be able to do nice bouncey rears with him on (he had been riding for around 6 months at that point). I declined his kind offer on the basis that my horse might get hurt - he laughed at me then saw the look on my face and said "OMG you would actually be more worried about the horse wouldn't you".

Ummm.... YES!

My OH shoe's my horse :P not only that, he helps at shows, gives me advice from the ground when im riding, lunges my girl, mucks out and will be soon going on my grandfathers lorry insurance to drive me to shows :)

I do have a brilliant OH, very lucky :D
