Has anyone else had the same problem me and 2 of my friends have with the zip breaking after only a few months!!! I have written to Toggi but no response. For £90 boots I did expect them to last more than 9 months!!!!

So now looking to replace them with something very similar but better quality? any recommendations?

Don't have the budget for Ariat Grassmeres sadly :-(

It is annoying, isn't it! Even though I took good care of my Calgary boots (only wore them for riding), the zip went on one of the boots after only a few months. I contacted Toggi and they told me to take them to the store I bought them from, and the store could then return them for inspection. As it happened, I was lucky, and the store kindly replaced the boots straight away as they said the zip should not have broken. The second pair lasted longer - maybe a couple of years.

I have now got the Shires Stow Long Leather boots for everyday riding, and am happy with those. One of them did rub on the heel a little bit, but they are fine now.

I used to have toggi calgary boots and loved them but agree the zips don't last long! I now have dublin zenith boots which are similar. I'm on my second pair, the pulls on the zips come off eventually but the zips themselves don't break. I retired my previous pair after about a year as a gap appeared near the sole and water could get in. I don't think I've ever had a pair of boots last longer than a year but I wear them everyday to ride and do jobs and I never "care" for them - a quick rinse with the hose if they are very muddy is all they get.

That's a shame! I love my Calgarys - they're about three years old now and going strong, although they don't look as nice anymore, they seem to have a build up of horse grease on the inside of the calves. I had thought about a new pair but you've put me off now...
I have a pair of Dublin ones very similar - I can't remember the name - they have not worn as well and the sole and upper came apart within about two months.

I have a pair and the zip hasn't gone yet *touch wood* however the elastic on the side of both boots near the ankle has turned into a gaping hole and one boot leaks.

I took them back to Robinsons where I got them and they said they'd have to send them off for inspection as it had been more than 3 months (?!?) since i bought them.

I've never sent them off as I don't have another pair of boots to wear in the meantime (apart from my very leaky hunters)

:( :(

I've not long bought a second pair as the zip went on my first pair - but only after about 4 years of nigh on daily use and int the same place as all zipped boots break with me, on the ankle as I have skinny ankles and wide calves so boots slump around my ankles. In fact, I was very impressed with them as a similar pair of Harry Halls I had broke after about a year. Hope quality hasn't deteriorated since I bought my last pair as I love them.

I've had 2 pairs and they've lasted about 18 month each. Given the price I paid and I used them as yard boots and for riding I'm not too worried. I've just ordered another pair online for £50.

I also have a pair of Ariat which I save for riding.

Love my calgarys and they are still going strong after about 16 months but I only wear them for riding, clean them and store them in a boot bag. They've lasted a lot longer than my ariat storm stopper wellies which have completely fallen apart at one ankle in under a year! :(

Yep, I tweeted them and was told to take them back to the shop, however, after 5 months of not very hard work I didn't feel it was fair to take them back to the shop, I expected something from Toggi directly, either a replacement zip or at the very least a discount on future purchases.

I won't be buying anymore Toggi boots.

I had Toggi Calgary's for years, and had several zips break on me. I finally decided enough was enough and replaced them with the Kanyon Gorse boots - they are awesome! http://www.kanyonoutdoor.com/Size_8_upwards_Gorse_X-Rider_Boot.asp They come in different widths and aren't too long.
The zip being on the side makes them more comfortable and they have very strong zips. Highly recommended. I got mine from Countrywide.

I like the look of the Dublin Pinnacles.....anyone know how they come up sizewise? I've either a 5 or a 6 depending on how they fit.

I'd have been a 6 not a 7 if that helps, the chap where I tried them on did say they come up larger rather than smaller.

I think the kanyons are very well thought through, they just didn't fit my feet very well.

I have a pair I bought them second hand as id heard the zips issue and didnt want to fork out new only for the zips to break. Ive had them months and they're fine and considering they were second hand when i bought them they are really good, comfortable and i wear them all the time including walking the dog daily.

I had my first pair for about a year before the zip broke on my boots. I then replaced them with the same boot in a wide fit only to have the same thing happen about 8mths later. I now have brogini modena's for every day riding and they are so far brilliant although i've only had them for about 4mths

Mine have always lasted a good year before they've started to give up the ghost (I've had two pairs). And it's not the zip that's gone, its the elastic at the side of the boot, and always the right hand one, which ends up with a big hole in it. I have to make sure I wear black socks all the time so it doesn't look too obvious!

That said, I do like the fit and style of them so I probably will be buying another pair soon.

That's because your sell contract is with the shop you brought them from, its the shops responsibility to deal with toggi.

Any decent shop will deal with each case in hand but knowing the zips go I have always refunded the customer and sorted things with toggi after unless the course the boots are very well worn then toggi would need to inspect them first.
It's very unlike them not to respond I assume you had the right address and the company is " finest brands international" not toggi

The zip went on my Toggi Calgary's 2weeks before they were a year old. Unbelievably I had the receipt - brought them back to the shop and after 2 weeks I got a brand new pair without any argument. I have that pair over 2 years and there is a little snag on one of the zips but still working. Did you try bringing them back to the shop?? If you don't have the receipt maybe a credit card statement proving when you bought them.

Thanks, I know technically it's up to the shop, but it didn't feel right giving them the hassle. They did respond, I just felt the response could have been better. I think I was expecting too much after reading how good Ariat are with replacing zips etc, but they are more expensive boots so they may be more proactive.

Reading the rest of the comments, it seems like these are not good boots if your ankles don't fill them well, I also have skinny ankles and the other person I know in real life who had the same problem also does.

One of these days I'll be able to afford Ariats, le sigh.
