Just want to check that things are going well and ask advice if you don't mind :)

Pup will be 9wks on monday. She has been soooo good to toilet train so far, I'm actually amazed. The first 3 nights, she went out and did her business at 10pm before bed, woke us at 1am howling and went out and did both, then slept til 7am when we all get up. No night time accidents. The past 2 nights, she has gone to bed at 10pm and never made a sound. We have woken at 2am and gone through and woken her to let her out anyway as I'm worried that she'll wake suddenly and be so bursting she wont be able to hold it in in time for me to get through and let her out. She pees and poos then goes back to sleep again til we get up at 7am.

So, my question is firstly, why is she being so good :) Are we just lucky?? And secondly, should we wake her in the middle of the night and take her out, or just leave her and see if she shouts? I didn't think pups, esp great danes, could last so long at such a young age!?

With Dylan he was the same I used to take him out at 2ish in the night but other than that he had a puppy pad down which wud have the odd tinkle on until he was 14weeks. I didn't crate him and Teal since about may I don't think when he was 6months. Are you crating or just sectioning off a room. Dylan had a slight relapse at 20 weeks which might have been caused by Teal arriving just went back out side with him with super praises. Even now at 11months and Teal at 4yo they have a 11pmish wee wee time which they Ho out come back in go in their crate and then get a biscuit or two each. Best training i ever did lol

im a bad mum and have forgot how old my puppy is :( roughly 18weeks? maybe =/. anyway - we got her at 9 weeks and she used to do 11pm-5am, then again til 8 :) now she sleeps right through until we get up with the baby! so does about 11-9 :) shes so good, picked up the puppy pad idea very quick ( we dont have a secure garden ) but now hardly uses the pad and saves up her wees for her walks :) x

Pip our puppy is 21 weeks today and would wake up about 3am and taken to toilet,(she is crated). She nows goes out at 11pm and sleeps right through until 6-7am and has to be woken up sometimes to go out.

During the day as Im home if she wants to go out she jumps up at the door and barks, we have had about 5 accidents since we have had her.

Its my understanding that it takes longer to toilet train a smaller breed than a larger as they have smaller bladders. A friend has just got a Chi puppy and she is practically house trained already using a crate which is an absolute godsend.

Our LH pup has slept through the night without an accident since the day we got him when he was 10 weeks. If you are having to waking your girl if she were mine I would be leaving her to wake you when she wants to go out.
The only accidents Pickle has ever had in his crate was on 2 occasions when he was left for 5 hours when I was at work, this was obviously too long for him so I arranged for my son to come home from college to let him out at lunchtime. Today he has been left for 5 hours without being let out whilst I was working and he was fine when I got back, though did have an enormous pee when I let him out, bless him.

Thanks everyone. She's in a little play pen at nights with the floor covered in cosy fleeces. She hasn't had any accidents in there at all so I guess I'm a little worried that if I leave her too long at night, she might have an accident and then it might become a habit. She's been good during the day too, only a couple of accidents when we haven't been quick enough to realise that she wanted out. She put herself to bed this morning after her breakfast and a mad hour. I left her to go and get dressed and all of a sudden, she started to howl. I came back, let her out and she did a huge poo in the garden then put herself back to bed! So proud :)
