ok..so I had mad cat hoarder lady next door.her cats think she is so mad that they all moved out....into my greenhouse..despite me having two large dogs!..
laughably this is where I attempt to say long story short! I have three wax jackets. a drizabone 3/4 length which is best condition of the lot..a barbour full length and a wj backhouse full length . All lived in the shed/tack room till other neighbours got chickens, didn't look after them and the rats moved in.As I cant stand the smell of wax jackets (had house on market) I put them in the greenhouse so they wouldn't get eaten (backhouse pocket is unwell and lost three decent pairs of long boots.) Tom cats objected and scent marked the now ratty smelling jackets..i hosed the ratty smell off first but it was nothing to this. .. now I really dont like the smell!the drizabone was barely used and all three were expensive..so liathed to throw them away..will the world really end if I soak them in something and then possibly do a cold/low machine wash? I fully intend to reproof but was hoping you would also be able to steer me towards some less objectional smelling reproofer.the traditional type makes my face and neck flare up in allergy when newly done tho after a few rains its bareable.we are so exposed here that I do actually like wearing them for horsey chores, riding if dreadful and dog walking. Do any newer brands actually smell nice or less pungent..and what are your thoughts on Nikwax wax cotton reproofer? would that be enough? for soakibg I was thinking bicarbonate of soda and or white vinegar /apple cider vinegar or nikwax tech wash or xan I risk a sensiteive detergent..co op non bio seems quite kind and gentle on my skin as well as the fabrics..any advice/experiences gratefully received...have a nuttella brownie!
