That is a very true saying meandmyself. I beat myself up before I had my old mare pts, it also was the start of winter but maybe she could have lasted a bit longer. However once the deed was done although I felt terribly sad it was almost a relief, if that doesn't sound callous.
Sending your Mum loads of hugs, hope she finds comfort in the fact she sounds as if she is making the right decision, and has obviously given Flo a wonderful life.

It sounds as though Flo found a true loving home until the end of her days and I hope you can both find recompense in that.
