Tongue, heart and offal

I collected this years cow from the slaughterhouse the other week and brought home all the bones and insides for the dogs....however I have a question.

My dogs are all fed raw meat and bones. They always have ad-lib biscuits available to them aswell. I throw the meat outside and the dogs always eat it outside so their room never stinks of meat.

Now I am about to thaw out some of the innards of the cow for them, however I am really not sure I can handle cutting up tongue or heart or offal, so how would you feed it? My plan was just to open the paper wrapper and toss each part outside for them to deal with themselves. My guys don't fight over food so no issues there, however I want to make sure they all get about the same amount and I would have rather that they all had a bit of each part; but don't know whether I can cut them.

Offal for doggies should really cooked but I wouldn't worry about cooking the tongue.

Why don't you think you could cut it?

Maybe I should just put them in a big pot and boil them up for an hour or so?

I don't know why I can't cut up tongue or heart - no issues skinning a deer but can't bring myself to chop into something which looks like what it is

. Blame it on being vegetarian for 10 years....

Now I can chop anything, cut up anything but cannot skin anything having seen the Peta video.

I should cook it all and then sling it out to them, do you have a particularly greedy dog? Maybe let it out a minute after the others.

It was only an 800lb cow but the tongue looks enormous in the paper! I haven't opened the wrapper yet though....perhaps that is what is putting me off it LOL!!

Skinning is okay by me and have no issues with meat, just not if it looks like what it is...weirdo eh?

No none of the dogs are greedy - they are all fine with meat being thrown out and don't fight over food thankfully.

Stick it in a blender...I have the same problem with meat. I can't stand it if it looks like what it is!! and I'll only eat eggs if they're mashed up..not if they look like an egg

Cut it up in a paper wrapper the throw it out! My best tool for raw feeding is my B&Q axe and a sharp serrated knife, have never been bothered by religious callers since they came across me chopping up a raw chicken and feeding it to the dogs! Used to be freaked by that kind of stuff now I pick up road kill!
Please don't ruin some excellent quality natural food by cooking it! Dogs never evolved with camp fires and have a short gut because they eat carrion so bugs cant take hold. An animal that evolved to dig up and eat a 3 week old + bone can cope with the bad ass bacteria we die from! That is if they are fed a DOG healthy diet.

Thanks Tia this just really made me laugh, I still can't work out which is funnier thou....... the thought of you as a vegetarian, or you not being able to cut up the tongue/heart. LMAO, I always thought you were a bad arse country girl!!!

P.S. Hold hands up and admits to being a vegetarian for 5 years following a bet by somone that I couldn't be!!!!!
