tongue over Cambridge pelham

He did it twice at our first show yesterday! Had to show him in his snaffle. I took the holes up each side. Didn't help but will have a look at stable today. Can they still do it if the bit is higher in the mouth? Was recommended to try this bit as he has fat tongue and small mouth, He is a Dutch horse and I have been told this a normal mouth for these horses. Need to try other bits. Any ideas please?

I'm not sure which varient a cambridge is but sounds like he needs a thin mullen/ ported mouthpiece

A Cambridge mouthpeice is a straight bar with a tiny port in the centre. This isn't really big enough to do anything and as a result the mouthpeice still presses on the tongue and can encourage a horse to try and get its tongue over the bit.

A mullen mouthpeice which is shaped like a half moon gives better relief for horses to swallow than a cambridge. However for horses with very fat tongues a bit wide port of around an inch in height will give best relief and allow them to swallow. Downside is these are only made by neue scule, sprenger, abbey and myler and they are generally over £60.
