Tongue swollen after dentist

Friend of mine horse tongue has a swollen twice the size tonight right at the back, she has called the vet who has give the horse some stuff to bring the swelling down

I wondered if there could be any link between the dentist 4 days earlier, he rasped the back molars

any one had the same?

If the dentist damaged the tongue and some infection got in then it is possible, but if the dentist is using the right equipment then that should not happen.

If the dentist did not use a speculum to hold the horses mouth open and just pulled the tongue out of the side of the mouth, he could have damaged the hyoid apparatus which might also cause swelling.
