Too big a rider??

Just wondering, as I'm looking for my own pony, my friend was kind enough to let me exercise her horse, she needs helping out, and she thought I needed to stay in the game while I search. He's a TB x welshie thing but only 13hh, and I am about 5 ft 3. Just wondering, if I was too big to ride him? The horse I used to ride was 15hh, so haven't been on a smaller pony in a while!! thanks xx

Depends how much you weigh but height wise you would be ok. I'm 5ft4 and one of mine is 13hh.

How heavy are you? And what sort of pony is he?-eg. lightly built, medium, stocky?

hes a medium weight, and i weigh about 7-8 stone.. i think lol x

I'm 5ft 3 and the biggest pony i ride is lucy who's 13.2hh on wed i took dudley the dartmoor hunting and he's under 12hh. I ride ponies for my job inclu two sec a's and a 32" shettie. Native ponys can carry alot of weight for there size.

I have a little fell-esq pony who is 11.3; I weigh about 11 stone, and she still tries to tank off with me!!! I dont ride her for long, but she has no problem carrying me at all!

You should be fine then

SO long as the pony feels comfortable carrying you, that's the main thing.

I weighed more than you when I had a 13hh sec B who used to regularly tank off/win out jumping etc...you'll be fine.

You positively tiny compared to me every other weekend i ride my friends 13 hand chunky type pony and i am 5ft 5 and 10 and half stone, he manages perfectly ok
