Too big neck cover?

Just bought one of those Masta Zing heavy turnouts for my 4 year old coloured lad. He's been in and out of work over winter up until this point mostly due to the weather, hence the lateness in clipping - but he's coming into full work now so he's having a trace clip but with all his neck out as these are the areas he sweats most.
He's out in a lightweight 6ft3 rug atm so bought a 6ft3 Zing to start with which was way too small in front and behind. Went back and ended up with a 6ft9 rug (are rugs coming up smaller these days?!?!) and this fits him pretty much perfectly albeit a bit stiff atm. Problem is, the neck cover is a little bit too big - it's touching his ears. I'm a little worried that this is going to cause a problem and just wanted people's opinions. The up side to it I guess is that he's on 24/7 turnout so at least when he's grazing and rolling it's going to keep his neck covered!
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

This was an issue I had - bought a 6'3 masta zing for my girl who's only 14.3 and the neck reached her ears. Canvassed a few opinions on the yard (she's my first so prefer to ask and be sure than assume!) and no-one thought it would be a problem. Not had any problems so far but it doesn't stay up by her ears, a bit of rolling and head down to eat and it scrunches up a bit (though she still seems warm and toasty). The only other issue I have is despite her having a massive neck, the neck itself seems to big for her and can appear to have a bit of a wind tunnel effect! :D and even with the velcro done as tight as it will go, its really quite loose on her. She doesn't seem the least bit bothered by it but interested to hear if anyone has a different opinion cos it is still on my mind!
