We have 2 horses, a green 17hh DWB gelding who's got tons of bone but is long all over and hard to hold together and can be strong/nappy, and a 16hh lw/mw german mare (high withers) who's a schoolmistress and very well balanced but sharp (v responsive and spooky).

My brother has been riding the mare while I've been away and really loves her but is 6'2" so the gelding's much more suited in size, though not in riding style.

Is he too big for her?

He looks fine to me. My OH who is the same height and weighs 11st has been known to have 10 min walk lessons on my 15hh connie

Connies have great bone density/are compact so are good weight carriers though, plus she's high withered -
my brother is skinny as a rake but weighs almost 12stone & regularly canters on her and would like to start jumping her this summer...
She never looks like she's struggling at all with him but I am conscious that sometimes his height makes it a little more difficult for him to balance when things go wrong as he's quite novicey, but she's very very sweet for him and really tries her heart out to interpret what he's asking.

thanks for all the WFP comparisons, don't think he's going to reach those heights though I'm afraid!

would be happy if we could master the concept of 'contact' in the next few months but he is exceptionally balanced I think but am very relieved you don't think he's too big, as everyone else does esp. since we have a giant horse wanting to be ridden aswell!
