I have a ODE booked for Saturday and I'm worried about how hot it is :-(
The riding will be ok i'm sure - my horse is fit, and its low level stuff (70cm) that she is comfortable at.

The issue is the travelling there and back. I have a converted van 3.5t box with some limited ventilation, but it is essentially just a metal box! We can travel early in the morning (pre-9.30 when it should be cool) but coming back will be 3-4ish in the hottest part of the day. there would be two horses in the box (little ones).

The journey is 1.5 hrs at least.
The forecast is 25 degrees max for saturday (according the iphone!)

I think I know the answer, its too hot to travel isn't it?
:(

You have time to get vents put in the roof ;)

25C is not that bad in the grand scheme of things, I would go.

If the horse dries after the post xc wash off, I would wash off again, maybe just armpits/face/between the legs before you set off so that the breeze has a double cooling effect :)

Erm, 25 degrees isn't really all that hot in the grand scheme of things. Wash them off well, don't boot or rug (obviously) and maybe give them a little longer before you head for home? I've transported horses a lot further in a lot hotter, but that was with acclimatized horses.
