I've posted before about potentially being able to buy a couple of horses for backing and bringing on with the trainer I'm working for, but since I've been looking it seems that it's hard to get anything within our budget. We were hoping to look for a couple of unbacked 2-3 year olds between 14-16hh to produce as allrounders or more specialist if the horse showed a lot of talent. The woman I work for is quite a traditionalist and likes 'old fashioned' type horses. She likes part-bred or pure welsh, connemara, irish draught or thoroughbreds, but has a thing against warmbloods and coloureds though. Our budget is unfortunately limited to £2000-2500 per horse at the moment and we're based in Scotland but she does travel around the country as part of her job. It's a shame because there are some lovely horses on the market but so many are priced out of our range. She's not keen to pay more for something that young and she's investing in improving the facilities at the yard!
Any help much appreciated. I keep browsing H&H and Horsequest only to get disappointed when a. my boss doesn't like the horses I've found, or b. lovely horse is just too expensive!
Thanks again.
