I decided to take my 17hh TB ride to PC camp this year and honestly i swear it gets better with age! I enjoyed it so much this year
Arrived with Fox at Pontispool and he had a shoe put back on that day so legs were wrapped up in boots all week! Very excited on the first day and had to take him for a gallop to settle him (Which worked quite well
). Managed to do some ok flatwork and polework but Fox wasent really engaging as well as i'd like!
Second day he managed some more pole/grid work well and decided SJ-ing out of a trot was best. Took him XC in the afternoon and whenever in first field near yard he would nap and goes sideways and for once i was actually scared! Got back into the yard and had pulled a shoe and one was hanging off! Farrier came out and sorted his feet out but was hoping lame so wasent looking very good
Got him out the next morning for a stretch but still lame so left him in and went and watched my group do some fun jumping without hands, stirrups etc
In ther afternoon i rode in the arena and seemed ok so was much happier
Had a great ride XC on forth day and felt his scope. Me and him just dont know how to handle the scope he has but we will get there! SJ'ed him and he managed from a trot well but still not respecting the poles very much.
On the last day we did a bit of slow lateral work in the morning and went for a hack around the XC course
Then in the afternoon SJ'ed for the parents and Fox went resonably well
Then took them out on the XC course and he was good as always
Whilst we were there he only stopped once and that was at an Owl hole with an easy exit out right! Jumped it fine second time
I cant get my pictures to work at the momemt but anyway here's the video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sszR7XdCXY
Let me know what you think
