Well i finally plucked up the courage to take my baby on his first hack. We went with a lovely girl from our yard who was fab with me as I was a nervous wreck. Despite the fact I must have been transmitting this to him and he didn't know where he was etc he was an angel. He was quite forward and walks out strongly - something I didn't expect as getting him to hurry up when we're walking out to the field is nigh on impossible!
We had a dicey moment when i realised i had no brakes but he soon came back to me. We went into the woods and have to go across a little wooden bridge which has just been repaired. The horse we were with threw a fit and refused to go over it but Hovis remained calm. The girl got off and led her boy over and Hovis followed like a lamb. He panicked a bit on the way back because he slipped but was ok. I was so proud of him and relieved we didn't have any drama - particularly as i was so tense. I have to keep reminding myself he is only 4. He was knackered though so we really do need to do some fitness work!
Pointless post really but it was a major milestone for me - just can't wait for lighter nights so we can go out more!
