I took Ruby to a show today. She hasn't been to one in just over 2 years. I wasn't actually taking part, I was more then to accompany a friends Horse who wouldn't hack there alone. We got lost on the way there and it took 2 hours to ride there!! Both Horses behaved brilliantly. We had to cross over a motorway brigde which upset Ruby, so I dismounted and she settled and walked over nicely. At the show she wss very exciteable, took her saddle off to let her get some air to her back as was a warm day. She settled quickly and ate some grass whilst my friend did her 2 classes. She came 3rd in one and not placed in the other. We gave them a little chill time and found a quite area where we could let them graze. Then tacked up and rode home, we went a different route which only took about an hour. She was fantastic and lead all the way back, we had to go under a motorway brigde this time and she was fine. Had a lovely comment from
The judge who walked past us, she said Ruby is absolutly beautiful! Heres some photos

And before anyone asks, we did wear hi-vis. My friend took hers off as she was competing and I took mine off as I was too hot. It went back on before we headed home though.

Thanks. She has a stifle injury and still isn't 100% on soft surface so have been sticking to hacking to get her built up and stronger.

Lovely pics!! I remember when loads of people, including me, used to hack and hour or more to shows!!

me too! I hacked my 13hh pony about 10 miles the day before a show (on my own). I carried all my stuff on my back and stayed at a friend's house with pony tethered in the garden near the show. Did show and hacked home again. I was about 12 at the time! It was quite a long time ago.

Thank you. She is obviously a very tired girl today. Heres some photos from this morning. The bay is the same bay in the photo above, she was also sleepy! Hehe
