It went very well except for the slightly exciting end.

My Dad very kindly offered to help me lead out one of the horses for a little potter down the lane. We normally take the grey and the chestnut gelding but I decided that it would be nice for the chestnut mare to come (instead of the grey) as she's finally looking like she will be coming back into work soon. :)

So I took two headcollars and caught the gelding. At this point the grey decided that something fun was going to happen and came over to have her headcollar put on (she can be a right **** to catch). She was royally peed off when I caught the mare instead and shouted her disapproval as I led them away. (The grey still had the TB mare for company.)

Anyway, off we went with my Dad leading the mare and I had the gelding. It was great, we only walked but the mare looks sound :D and the gelding is actually calming down a tad and we managed to have hardly any jogging. :D :D We passed some bikes and some walkers but didn't meet any cars.

When we returned, we had to take them through a ford to go back to the field. At this point we had swapped horses. I led the mare throught the ford and a moment later there was a yell from behind me. I turned around to see a very sheepish looking gelding and my Dad lying in the stream.

I really thought that he'd been pulled over but actually my Dad had tripped. :o

No-one was hurt, so all was well. :)

The grey and the TB came belting over once they chestnuts were back in the field but I didn't have my camera. :( Grrrr, I could have got some super action shots.

Here's some photos from this morning though. :)

Sound? She is sound? Hurrah :D

Long may it last. :D

I'm afraid I did have to laugh at your dad though :o

It was funny (once I knew that all was OK), there's a bit of a hole in the concrete that makes up the bottom of the ford and he apparently stepped right in it. I've never seen a horse look like this before :o but the geding obviously thought that he'd done something wrong. Bless. :)

Aw, I love hearing about your little group of horses. Really glad your mare's come right. :)

Thank you. :D It's nice to hear (erm... read ;) ) that.

I'm really hoping that I'll be doing a ridden update soon. The farrier's due at the end of the month - fingers X'd that he's pleased with her progress.

ahh hehehe!! I would have loved to have seen that! Bet your gelding was like 'i didn't do it! honest!' :) The sun has been lovely today, if I hadn't been mega busy I would have taken the young hooligan for a walk :)
