following on from how you muck out post really.

Everyone thinks I am a bit mad but I have a straw bed and don't use a fork - I just use a spade - I shake the poo onto the spade - works a treat!

I have a fab heavy duty american shavings fork that doubles up as a rake, it has outlived all the other shavings forks I have ever owned, and a broom. For the straw beds a normal fork and a broom.

I use willow sawdust over rubber mats - sounds really dusty, but as it is willow which is quite a 'damp' wood, it isn't, makes a great bed that is easy to muck out. I use a 'multimucker' which is between a shavings fork and pitchfork - it is brilliant, I've had it over 2 years and is still like new! I have got a rubber mat fork which doesn't catch in my mats, but doesn't 'dig' easily into the bottom of the bed when I want to shake it up!

there is an amazing shavings fork floating around at the moment which all us shavings people love, it is very narrow but has a bucket shape with high sides. We think it belonged to someone who has now left...

Just use that (when I can get it

) and a broom.

If it's straw then I use a fork and broom.
On shavings I use a poop scoop, shavings fork, plastic shovel/spade and broom

For skipping out I use either rubber gloves or (even better) two dustpans.

for mucking out i use a normal four pronged fork, and a broom. I have just purchased a rubber broom as they're so fab.

I use rubber gloves for the poop and then sweep up with my brush to make it tidy. At the weekend for the full muck out I use the good old shavings fork and shovel and again sweep for tidyness.

I have a lovely light pitch fork for the poo and really wet stuff and fluffing up the new straw, I also have a heavy duty pair of rubber gloves so I can pick out the small bits of mess without wasting too much straw, a broom to sweep the floor and a light totally plastic shovel to pick up those last few bits of cr*p!

Full bed of shavings on rubber matting

I use rubber gloves for the poop and a shavings fork to sort out wet from dry.
I sweep any remaining little dirty bits into a poop scoop and all 'dirties' go into the wheelbarrow.

I have a full straw bed on rubber and I use a future fork which is a plastic shavings fork. I use a normal straw fork to shake out new bedding.
