edt saw today and advised vet to sedate and hopefully remove.im worried it wont be straightforward and require surgery.its top right slab fracture apparantly. any experiences of broken teeth

I've had 2 horses teeth removed, one under sedation and one under GA. Both times went well and horses recovered very quickly, although the one under GA cost a small fortune!! The teeth (2!) had to be removed through the cheeks!!!

Hi my horse had this done last year. He had a slab fracture. The vet gave sedation and at my insistance a pain killer and the dentist removed it. The vet hung around as she thought it was interesting.

Once horse perked up and was over the sedation, he was fine and was back to eating like a erm horse.

Horse was also kicked in the mouth and split 2 front teeth. He had x-rays and had the pieces removed. Now 7 years later, one of the teeth has gone black and the vet is coming out on tuesday as he may need it removed at the vet school under a general.

The dentist advised that any damaged teeth, keep an eye out for signs of pain or infection. Infection signs include bad breath, pain and even persistently runny eyes if in the upper jaw.
