My mare will lean to the right when the bit is in her mouth. she has had her teeth checked not long ago, but have noticed a tooth just breaking the surface in her gum.
Now a friend has told me that this is a tush tooth, but she thought that only boys get them, is this true, as I do call her my he/she as she is not typically mareish

You do get the occasional mare who develops tushes although they are usually very small compared to those in the male.

I would give your equine dentist a call and ask him to come and have a look just to be sure.

They are more developed in males than mares, but, you do get tushes occasionally in mares.

Can you feel along and see if it's raised? And have a look at the bit, sometimes there can be bumps. scratched in the metal!

I had a bit like this and had to return it, as, when you ran your fingers over it, it was sharp!!!!

Ask your vet or EDT to have a look as well, then your mind will be at rest

f_s her bit is fine as I run my fingers over it all the time when washing it.
Her tooth is slightly raised and there is enough room in her mouth for the bit, also wondering if its just a bit sore and thats why she tilts her head sometimes

yes mares can get canines,it shouldnt really bother her when being ridden unless it has made the side a bit sensitive,is she a dominante mare ? as alot of the mares i have seen with canines tend to be a little more dominante than others,in geldings they tend to erupt at certain ages, lower canines 4 and upper canines 4 1/2 depending on the horse, this doesnt always apply when a mares canine erupts they can be quite random if they get any.
