7am early feed
730 muck out, rugs, turn out lot A
morning - working lot B
before 12 - bring in lot A
12pm - lunch feed then turn out lot B
3pm - work lot A and hay
4ish bring in lot B
5pm - feed and skip out and do rugs
after 9pm lates - check rugs/temperature and then hay
horses get their feed tailor made (mine is on a scoop of cond. half a scoop of chaff and a sugar beet 3x a day)
one slab of hay at these times (horses that are out don't get hay left in their stables - only when they are in do they get hay)
when i was working at a top yard
7.15 ish feed all, start mucking out. hay or haylage to all except those about to be ridden.
9am ish start working horses. all did at least an hour a day: hack out (usually 1 1/2 hrs or more), schooling, jumping, to gallops, etc.
finish working horses by late lunchtime ish.
some turned out, some not. ideally all turned out daily for some time obv.
some had lunchtime feeds. hay or haylage. skip out.
afternoon, groom and strap all horses.
4.30ish feed all. hay or haylage. skip out and redo all beds.
10pm ish - feed some again, hay or haylage, skip out again. check rugs, adjust if necessary.
all hayed from the floor. fresh water redone a couple of times a day.
i'm a lot more relaxed on my yard, e.g. my Advanced mare more or less lived out.
One yard I worked on v similar to Kerilli, but v few turned out and top lot went on the walker and worked for slightly less time. Also haynets for most. No skip out at late check (40 something horses would have taken ages!!)
Another yard:
Start at 6/6:30 feed (done the night before so chuck bucket over the door)
Muck out, haylege on the floor for most
Work everything
4:30 (if i was lucky) skip out, haylege and feed. Never usually went out in the field but a couple lived out 24/7. No late check unless rugs needed changing if too hot earlier.
Now mine fed 7ish, muck out, work in field, come in 5ish atm and fed again, late check 10ish
I have recently done work experience on to event yard;
8 am - horses fed
8:15 (ish) - horses on the walker (20 mins on each rein), mucked out whilst on walker.
9:30 - horses put away again, yard swept/tidied - staff in for breakfast
10:00 - 12:30ish - Horses worked as stated by day work list. Hacked out around 2x per week. Horses that are going schooling or competing/to the gallops etc. are turned out.
12:30 - horses that aren't being turned out are washed down from excercise, hayed, watered, skipped out, lunch time feeds, yard swept.
1 pm - 2pm - horses that are in skipped out, groomed on the walker.
2pm - 4pm - tack cleaned, manes pulled, tails tidied, legs trimmed, fields poo picked, school levelled (you get the idea)
At our yard
8.00 feed, haylage, start mucking out
8.45 first lot on the walker for an hour
9.30 ish mucking out finished, sweep and tidy
9.45 change horses on walker, staff breakfast
10.30 first lot of horses hack out for 45 mins
Horses may be schooled by the pros after the grooms hack them out as a warm up
10.45 change walker again
11.30 second lot hack out
11.45 change walker again
12.45 off walker, haylage again, tidy for lunch
1.00-2.00 lunch
2.00-4.00 horses schooled according to rota, taken jumping or galloping. Odd jobs done if possible
4.00 Skip out, tack clean, advanced horses or those needing fitness back on walker
5.30 Feed and hay and tidy up
Some horses get turned out, some live out as they are not fond of stable, others don't go out much. All are groomed thoroughly before and after being ridden
Feed- all Baileys cool mix and conditioning cubes (if required) and flax oil and carrots.
TableDancer - LOL just re-read that and though how stupid it sounded with lack of punctuation, tis a very funny thought trying to groom them on the walker
