Top hat and Tails

Hi All

I need to buy some top hat and tails this season. I would prefer to try them on before buying to avoid the hassle of having to send them back if they don't fit.

I live in Oxfordshire...any ideas anyone?
 
Not sure whether Inch's would have them - they are just outside Basingstoke on the Newbury side so depending where you are in Oxfordshire possibly not too far. Worth a quick internet search or call to them.
 
hmm, I bought my top hat from ebay. I knew my head height and as it was for side saddle I was restricted to the height so went for the lower end of what is allowed sideyways (5" i think??)

anyway as it wasn't too high, it looks fab - although I personally would always wear a hat now, but my silk top hat was a bargain on ebay (came from holland too) and I won't part with it despite never needing it again (its just so pretty ;) )


for tailcoat, if I was competing at 1* and above, I would save up and buy a tailcoat from flying changes as they make bespoke for the price of an off the rail one. they really are beautiful as I tried one on at Olympia. how I would love to buy one but I can't justify it just now - would need to really be going for a CIC1* for hubby to let me frivolously buy one but well worth checking out and ? what about getting a tailor to measure you then get one made by them??
 
Thanks guys! Had a look at both websites and Artic Fox you are right you can get flying changes to make you a bespoke one for a good price.

I emailed them and spookily they are up at a show near me for 3 days this week so I am heading over to get measured!

I agree with the top hat business as well, I will be wearing my proper hat and will be buying only the tail coat.

Artic Fox, good luck with persuading hubby in the future and thanks for your help as I will have in time for my first CIC this year! Owe you one!
