Did anyone see it? The fat dartmoor (I think) on lush grass, and it basically says - feed antilam and you will have no problems with laminitis. Appalling! I know feed companies may not always be completely honest but you look at ads like that and wonder why cases of laminitis are on the rise.

Mental isn't it.

I also thought similar a couple of weeks ago when the picture was a show horse in stereotypical 'show condition' ie obese

Disgusting. I haven't seen it but who can say marketing isn't at the forefront of feed companies?
As owners we have to try our best to educate ourselves to protect our horses as best we are able. It's just a shame we have to protect them from some companies and even some professionals. :(

Or on a different note it could be showing that even a horse / pony over weight and on lush grass can benefit from being fed antilim so that they are still getting the correct nutrients etc without getting laminitic.

I never saw the advert though so can only guess this is what they may have been aiming at, would have been better to show a nice fit pony on good grazing.

Presumably that is what a novice owner is supposed to think, while the rest of us know that it is patently untrue.

Feed companies are there first and foremost to make money for their shareholders, not to feed equines correctly. Horse owners would do well to remember that.

I'm not a fan of TopSpec - we've had to buy their grass chaff because Graze-on and Readigrass have run out until the next cut. I was most disconcerted to find that TS is coated in soya oil, which I would not feed by choice as it is GM.

All the antil laminitis supplements tend to use fat ponies in the ad, but only top spec has theres on cattle type grass.
I agree about the show conidtion one, I saw that too, it was saying feed 'whatever' and your horse can look like this...I thought over my dead body.
