Does anyone know if there is any difference between Top Spec conditioning flakes and Baileys No 17 mix. They are both supposed to put on weight. I have my TB mare on No 17 at present but wondered if TS would be better. She also has TS Feed balancer and have just started feeding Outshine. Also when she is in work she can lack energy, which one is best for both - any ideas welcome, thanks

One main difference between the two is that the flakes are designed to be fed with the TS balancer, so don't contain added vit/mins, as the balancer supplies these. The Baileys DOES contain added vit/mins though, so if you are feeding these with the balancer at the recommended weight, you are doubling up on vit/mins unnecessarily.

I haven't tried the Bailey's but do feed the TS Flakes and Balancer, they go great together. My boy can be difficult to get through the winter without losing weight but we've never had this issue since feeding TS. He is TBx. He always seems to have plenty of spark in him too! I also find it brings the coats up lovely all year round.

Another difference is that the TS flakes are significantly higher in calories at 16 MJDE/kg than the Baileys No 17 at 12.5 MJDE/kg, so 1kg of TS flakes will have more weight-gain effect than 1kg of Baileys.

For condition and calmness, I am going to be trying TS Cool & Condition.

Initially it was recommended that I try the Flakes but it was felt they might be too heating......

Thanks everyone for your help, reading all your replies has been very helpful. I think I will try her on TS flakes and TS balancer and see how we get on.

i do topspec balancer and ts cond cubes which is making a great difference, nice shiny coat too! am going to look into these flakes - can you feed them with those tho?
