Do you mean this one - bet some won't notice it as it is stuck in the stickies:
"Dear forum users
As some forum members have repeatedly ignored the forum rules about carrying advertising in their signatures, we are requesting that all forum users remove any links to commercial websites, promotional messages, wanted adverts and information about items that are "looking for a new home" from their signatures immediately. Links to personal websites that are in no way commercial can remain.
Anyone who still has such messages in their signatures by 10am on Monday 7 July will risk having action taken against their account. We did not want to issue this warning but it is becoming a full-time job dealing with complaints about this matter and we do not have sufficient resources to allow this to continue.
Well it has been asked for, hasn't it? One would hope (??!!) that they would ignore the odd 'oh I wonder if anyone has a 5'6" turnout rug they're not using' type thing, on grounds that no one in their right bank balance is going to place such an ad actually in Nag and Dog, but if people do advertise horses and businesses and lorries and jobs in their siggies, it was always going to happen!
Trouble is, it encourages viral marketing as in 'Has anyone heard of this yard' and 'Where would you advise me to look for a saddle' followed swiftly by 'Oh my goodness, yes, they are the most marvellous yard ever' and 'How about Honest John's Tack Shop in Tatville?' - where on earth do you draw the line?
I expect we shall soon find out!
i think advertising posts are naughty but whats the harm in people advertising things in their sig? fair enough they do clutter up posts but lots of users have biggish sigs anyway! & who wastes their time reporting people with sdverts in their sig to admin
i think they should chill out about it or remove the problem all together by not allowing sigs!

the problem is that H&H have a good classified section and that if people want to advertise then they should pay for it. Which is fair enough. H&H are good enough to provide us with the forum ,the least we can do is respect their rules.
I've just seen a post by equiweb on HHO facebook group saying she's been banned from HHO for her Soapbox thread, where she said she'd keep the advertising in her sig. But she also says she doesn't care, so that ok then!

Well that makes two of us that don't care then. I can't stand petulant adolescent 'well I'm gonna break the rules anyway' toy slinging.
So I expect I'll live without her, whoever she is/was?!
I think it's a shame actually - I appreciate that they need to protect their advertising revenue but largely it's items of tack that are in the sigs and they'd go in the classified bit for free anyway (provided they're under £500). Fair enough to stop folk advertising horses / lorries etc but a blanket ban seems over the top. However, BEFORE anyone jumps on me - I appreciate that Admin don't have enough hours in the day to keep on top of all the posts - but who complained in the first place??
but it seems to me they did turn a blind eye for ages to the odd bit of tack and what have you, and eventually people started taking the you know what and advertsing horses and lorries and all sorts. So no, they don't have time to sort them all out, and obviously people can just have the common sense not to crowd the fence and just get greedy, so they had to ban the lot. Rather like bringing up children, isn't it? If you can't be sensible with that, I'll have to take it off you.
I for one have noticed the advertising in signatures getting more and more blatant over the last few months, so I don't see anyone had to complain. Presumably they do look over a sample of posts each week, and while they were happy to overlook the odd noseband or set of boots, once they started seeing the big stuff, the only thing they could do was ban the lot.
Rules are rules. It might be a shame, but there we are.
If these items would go in classifieds free, why don't people do just that?
Thing is I don't think it was a problem when it was the odd bit of tack here and there, but when it comes to large items that could be on H&H they had to stop it. I think Equiweb was advertising some sort of classifieds service, which was a bit much, then posted to say she wasn't removing it, which was pushing it. A hard crack down on all advertising was presumably needed as admin can't be seen to favour individuals.
I quite agree but specifically with regard to equiweb if you're stupid enough to blatantly advertise on a competitors website then you deserve everything you get!

But on her FB post she says that she told admin she would keep the sig until the 7th (the deadline) and then change it - but they went ahead and banned her there and then
Well sorry, but they gave a few days grace to enable people to take action. It was always against the rules. If you go, oh yeh, I realise now I'm breaking the rules but you know what I'll go right on breaking them til your deadline, what exactly do you expect.
Off to see my horse. Who has a brain.
I think Admin have given a period of grace for people who don't come on everyday. The fact that Equiweb saw the notice and then TOLD admin she was going to flaunt it is what they have taken objection to.
No Ravenwood, it wasn't, honest! It was more to do with Equiweb flouting rules in admin's face, and then being fed up at being kicked off.
Also, I may as well confess now, it isn't true on two counts. 1)I have now been held up so am not yet off to see my horse and 2) I'm really not sure about the second sentence, either!
I have chuckled at the inventiveness in some of the 'adverts' contained in signatures, though. I can't see a problem with bits and bats of stuff which have little value. We are all feeling the pinch and tackroom clear-outs will be common occurrences.
I suspect the fact that she has blatantly advertised her own equestrian classifieds website in more than post had more to with her getting banned, than the fact that she said she was leaving her siggy up until the deadline!
