Having our nettles, docks and long grass topped in next few days but keep being told different things about leaving bits down or raking them up after. Is it safe to leave bits in field that have been topped, just worried about horses eating them xx

My lovely yard owner has just topped my field and i picked up all the cut grass in the field he is in and fenced off the resting field for a couple of days untill the grass dries out and is more like hay .

If your horses are going straight back then it would be best to clear them up, if the field is being rested for a month or more then it will be beneficial to leave them.

Ours have just been topped, mostly long grass and a few docks.....

decided just to leave the horses out (including whilst topped) as they are not worried by the tractor..... they have all survived so far.
