My 7/8ths TB has dropped off a little over winter but rather than looking in poor condition she has lost a lot of her topline. My saddler pointed it out & my instructor confirmed the same - however both said she isn't too bad in terms of 'weight' if you see what I mean. You can't really see her ribs although you can feel them, and she still has a round ish bum.

She has done less work since Xmas so that could explain it but now she is coming back into 'normal' work I'd like to boost any muscle we develop as much as possible.

I am looking at either TopSpec cool condition cubes or Spillers Response slow release cubes alongside TopSpec balancer & a handful or 2 of TopSpec alfa. She is quite fizzy and spooky so I need to avoid anything that may heat her up so would appreciate any thoughts on either of these feeds.

Btw she is currently fed 3 small meals a day due to limited appetite alongside good quality haylage.

We use the Spillers Response Slow Release Cubes on our lad and they seem to keep him level-headed most of the time! However, at 11 MJDE/kg they are not as calorific as the TS Cool Condition Cubes which are 12.5 MJDE/kg. So a lot depends on how much extra condition you need and what you are feeding already. If you are currently feeding a lowish calorie feed (perhaps about 8 or 9 MJDE/kg) then the Slow Release Cubes would be a good step up, however if you are already feeding something that is around 10/11 MJDE/kg, you would be better going for the TS Cool Condition Cubes.

Also if she has a small appetite you might be better going for the Cool Condition Cubes as you can feed smaller meals with a higher calorie level.

We use the cool and condition with grass cubes and this keeps weight on my boy without making him over the top when nothing else did - even bluchip didnt put weight on him! It gives just the right ammount of spark to get him going nice and forwards without the sillyness he had on other feeds!

Id reccomend it :)

I've used both, for a fizzy horse I'd try the Topspec cubes first as they are cereal free so no heating effect. Feed won't give you topline though, no matter what the manufacturers tell you. Increasing her workload and insisting that she works correctly from behind will!

Thank you everybody, I will try the TopSpec cubes first then as they seem to get the majority vote. She really is quite sharp so I've had her on Winergy Equilibrium Condition all winter but I think partly because she it's a light feed in terms of weight and she has a limited appetite so can't eat all she would need to.

I'm quite conscious of what I feed her as she can get quite silly, and I do know she will only get topline through correct work ( how I wish there was a magic topline pill we could buy! ) but I would like to get the best help I can from her feed en route!!

If you are feeding WITH the topspec balancer go with the topspec cubes, they have NO vit/min contents as they are designed to be feed with a balancer. Great diet and all mine look fab on it.

^^^^this, if not on a balancer I would go with the Spillersc:)
