I'm a bit torn. I'll try to not name drugs/illness etc. to protect companies and just give the bare bones.
I've a horse who is poorly, quite ill in fact and the vet has given me two options for treating him. They've left it up to me to decide which one although if it was their horse they would choose drug A. Drug A has been out for a while and is the standard treatment for his problem, but the prognosis is not 100% even given this drug and it doesn't work for all horses.
Drug B is new on the market, and has a good write up but is not proven, it could give him a better chance, but I'm really not sure whether to go a bit experimental :/

What would you do? My gut feeling says go for the more proven drug but I don't want to do wrong by my horse either :/

Can you try drug A, and if no result is forthcoming then opt for drug B ? It is difficult to say more because of lack of info but respect your right to privacy or legal aspects.

If its available on the market it must be proven. If you do some Google work you should be able to find written evidence to help you with your decision.

Echo googling to compare, but if drug B may give your horse a better chance, then I'd try that, presumably you can always resort to drug A if necessary.

What is the possibility of trying drug A and if it doesn't work then drug B?
Are there known drug-drug interactions?
Is budget a consideration?

If you are able to PM me the names of the drugs then I'm happy to give my opinion.
