My horse became disunited on the lunge, bth reins. He would occasionally do it ridden, but rarely.

I took him for a lameness work up. Vet diagnosed arthritus in his right stifle.

After 4 weeks off and Hy 50 injections into joint there was no improvement so off he popped to the horsepital for investigative surgery.

He had a torn meniscus which the vet has repaired.

He needs 6 weeks box rest and 6 weeks field rest then the vet will visit him again.

He is also having stem cell therapy in 2 weeks time.

Have any of you experienced this before, tell me good and bad stories.

I'm not sure why he would be disunited on both reins if only one side was effected. Can any one explain this please.

I just feel there is something else going on other than the stifle issue.

Thanks

Hi Goodtimes
Not a useful reply to your query I'm afraid but I'm guessing (hoping) that 2 years on you have some sort of resolution? My horse has recently been diagnosed with a tear in the lateral meniscus (left stifle). The Vet has asked me to consider 3 treatment options 1)box rest, 2) stem cell therapy and 3) surgery. His recommendation is the stem cell therapy but I see that you had both. How did your boy get on? Do you have any wisdom you could pass on? Did you find any additional issues? I have this concern too as I'm convinced my horse is showing discomfort in his back but nothing can be found....

I'd be grateful for anything you can tell me. Thank you.

My friends horse had this on his hock. He had keyhole surgery then a period of box rest. Gradually brought back into work and he has recovered from this. Thats about all I can remember of his treatment but hes fine from it.
