Was going to post this is soap box but more people are viewing on here. My son since he was about 2 has always had an imaginary friend called Danny (not so much now he is 6 but he will still say his name now and then!!). I have just been looking through photos and noticed quite a few orb like bits which I have never noticed before. So how can you tell the difference between orbs and dust on the lense???

Afraid I would probably put the 'orb' thing down to dust particles and light hitting them, or something on lens explanation. Saying that I'm open minded on the ghost thing, think i may have seen one, not sure, but as I say, open minded. :)

Don't worry hun. I had an imaginary friend as a child and I grew out of it eventually...I was about 9 when I did. Some kids gothrough this phase and it can be a bit spooky. My mum was worried like you thinking 'what if'.

Orbs are apparently usually quite large, the majority being roundish and some are surrounded by a lighter shadowing effect...
I have had a few experiences...but not convinced as of yet :p

when i brought my house i thought it had a ghost, when everyone in the house was up stairs u could hear someone walking around... werid!

then my 3 year old daughter was playing in her room talking as if she was talking to someone, so i popped my head round the door and asked who she was talking to... she replied "cameron" i asked if cameron went to her play school and she said " no he lives in my wardrobe" well im open minded about ghosts but that freaked me out! she often spoke to him, in the house and sometimes when we were in the car.

so later when she wasnt in the room i went in and asked cameron to listen, and asked him not to speak to her again as she didnt understand, she never mentioned him again.

I think that the orbs have to satisfy 3 main criteria to be considered genuine.
Are they perfectly circular?
Do they appear to have depth (sort of stand out from the photo)?
Do they appear to emit light/glow?

Apparently according to one of the ghosts shows on sky an orb is the spirit of someone usually watching over him at that point in time or for that day

Not sure myself but as others have said am open minded :)

My husband is a chartered Surveyor and has had some amazing photos of orbs. Until we moved into the house we are in now ( a 200 yr old cottage) he was totally unbelieving in anything paranormal. On moving in here we were told it was haunted and we have all had different but the same experiences here. We have not mentioned anything to our children as we dont want to frighten them but for example I have been sat on my own in the living room and have had my hair stroked, my 7 yr old daughter then told me (without knowing anything of what happened to me) that someone comes into her room and strokes her hair. She is not afraid at all. I believe it to be a child as I have clearly heard a childs voice saying 'hello' when I was in the bath. I replied 'hello' but nothing else. my son age 4 has also told me a boy comes into his room to play with him and that they are friends. The orbs my husband captured could not be dust, far too large. Very interested to hear of others experiences.

My daughter didn't have an invisible friend but used to talk about 'when she was a boy with her other mummy' from being about 2 years old. She also used to have 'people' come and sit in her bedroom talking to her and this went on til she was a teenager. She always had trouble sleeping when she was older because of this, they used to keep her awake and she always just wanted them to leave her alone and blames me for passing this onto her. She still describes it now and can describe the early ones that came to her room very clearly. I do think the imaginary friend thing is a psychic phenomena experienced by younger children who are still open to the psychic energies (sorry to those who think I am a nutter but I am well into all this stuff and have studied it for years) and that as the child gets older, and aware that it isn't 'normal' to see/hear these things, they then suppress their abilities.

how interesting , i love this kind of stuff. I live in a 16 th Century cottage and every now and again we look after my mums doga cocker spaniel who spends most of his time growling at nothing round the house i swear he can sense things we cant !

According to my Mother something similar to this happened to me when I was 3/4. My mum would catch me in the middle of the night rocking on my rocking horse or sitting on my bed talking to myself. I used to say...the man in the uniform is brushing my hair/talking/playing with me. It was just after my Great Uncle (who fought in the Somme and never got over it) passed away.
I still believe he watches over me, god only knows I have had some very very lucky escapes in my life!

I totally agree with this :)

So what does everyone think??
He does suffer from night terrors and he always says the same thing about a little boy under his bed with blood on his face during these episodes. It is starting to freak me out a bit!!!!

My friends son had an imaginary friend when he was very young called Ed that he'd always chat to. She picked him up one day and looked in the mirror and said, Mummy and Craigy, pointing at their reflections. Craig said, no, Mummy, Craigy and Ed, pointing to a blank space next to him. Oooo-errrrr!

Agree with both hch4971 and Jadey, especially re the supression of abilities i do think that deceased loved one's can use our dreams to communicate with us, to overcome the surpression.
:)

Where is Berry, I wonder if she's re checked the photos?

The yard where I keep my horse was originally the stables the and coach house to a large country house.
I have heard two different voices on two separate occasions. One said 'come on then' and the other 'stand still'. My horse sensed it too, she stood head held high, ears pricked, eyes wide and was snorting.
I was definitely completely alone on both occasions. It doesn't worry me because you get the sense that they are harmless, if that makes sense.

I wouls just let him talk about it and do not make him think i is stange, my daughter tells me steange thinks all the time, if they are true to life is anoter thing..... here goes

1. she was in the bath.. mummy I love the grey horse.. the last grey horse on our farm was over 100 years ago, and our bathroom was were the paddock was.. there are no pictues of it... how does she know?

2. she say her other mummy and daddy live in a red house house with a brown horse, and her mumy and daddy are called nancy and winston... random, we have rode around and found the house she is cnvinced was hers and the people named did live there.... again random, I from scotland so not local.

3. We have a pertol pump for the troactors, she is convinced it is the calves house, it turns out it was, soooooo, how do we explain it?????

All I will say is do not dismiss it and take the time to explore the info, you may be surprised :)

Berry That looks like a definite Orb to me (not that I'm Yvette Fielding or anything but I do find this subject fascinating)

There is a scale of zero to four in terms of magnitude, and yours is a one ish, so its not a strong presence.
I'm really sorry it's upsetting your son though, its usually a transient thing and won't harm him.

:(, Im scared now!!! lol

I love this thread. After I posted on here last night I went to bed, (husband had gone out and kids asleep) and to be honest I had quite spooked myself! It is something we dont really think about on a day to day basis but things happen here so often we just accept it now but telling you guys about it before bedtime was not a good idea!! lol
We have had lots of voices but the majority of the time you cant actually make out what it is being said, As I said I have had a very clear hello when I was here on my own and I just said hello back ( I was in the bath). I then went on to ask if they wanted to talk to me but there was no other noises. My husband heard whispering out in the hallway late one night and thinking it was me wanting him to heat up a babies bottle he duly went to the kitchen and heated one. Having brought it up he found us all asleep. He couldnt make out what the whispering was saying but he had been working so was not half asleep etc. He has also been outside and looking up at our bedroom window saw a figure (of a man he thought at the time) who then moved away behind the curtain. He shot upstairs thinking someone had come in (he was alone at the time) to find noone there. But he is adamant he saw it. As I said in a previous post he will not discuss any of this with anyone other than me and thats only when i can get him in the right mood to discuss it!
:)

Berry, I think you have a child who is brilliantly "in touch". I too believe that as we grow up and are educated that these phemonema "just aren't possible" we supress the ability. Psychics etc have just tapped back into it, or were lucky enough never to lose it.

I don't think its something to be afraid of at all, more cherished.
