I would love to do this - i have choosen my piece of music - ravels bolero.

I have the horse - just a few years too young!

if you were (or do) dressage to music whats your fave piece and why?

We have a fun dressage to music (Musical Hooves!) at Christmas every year. I love getting the music together, then getting the floorplan to fit! So far I've done Western theme tunes, Abba Medley, Shirley Bassey mixed with The Stripper and a few plain pieces. So far, done it for friends to compete but, this year, I'm going to have a go myself!
I've mixed Clubbed to Death (Matrix theme) with Mission Impossible, only 3 months to practise, lol!

I love the idea Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis, but it's 5.5 minutes long and most freestyles have to be 5 minutes maximum.

Jungle book! :)

It can take hours and days to find music to suit the horse- I find the trot music the hardest to get. I do music for people and its sometimes the bit of music you would not think to use, or even like a lot that really goes with the horse.

I'm doing a prelim for some one at the moment and they want a comedy one and a serious one, its a coloured show cob so it should be interesting, off to spend the day with my music collection.......!

i organised to do this at my yard and we did it yesterday. I used Rockin Robin :) Was very fun and im organising another for half term so everyone has more time to practise.

DTM is great fun - somehow riding to music makes you relax.

Don't forget you need different speeds of music for walk trot and canter, so the same piece of music will not necessarily suit all paces.

Film your horse in walk trot and canter and then watch it whilst playing the various tracks you want to use. You will very quickly see what suits your horse.

Good luck - keep us posted!

Conquest of paradise - beautiful track.

I've done poker face before with my boy.

Does anyone know of any freeware that allows you to mix pieces together? I downloaded virtual DJ but you have to mix it, i want something that will just piece x seconds of one with y seconds of another!

Did one for daughter when she was 11 to an Elvis compilation - Return to Sender for canter, remix of Little More Conversation for walk, Ain't Nothing but a Houndog for trot, as well as I want you to be my Teddy Bear for the trot to halt finish, for that "aah' factor - it worked, he won!

Pony was 11.2, so had virtually double the usual beats per minute, so not much use for anyone else.

This is what I do to find music that matches my horse's paces.

First, bandage one leg of your horse. Get someone to count how many times that bandaged leg hits the ground in 60 seconds in all the paces.
Then you know how many beats per minute for walk, trot and canter.

Then go to this website:
http://www.equimusic.com/index.php

They have listed loads of music which is sorted by walk trot and canter, and also sorted by beats per minute. Then you can be sure the music will match the footfall of your horse.

Sounds complicated, but its not, once you get started.
