So after Blacky jumped really well with me the other week, we went to jump again today and she just totally refused to jump any of the jumps, even when i made one smaller.
can any of you think why?
her saddle and everything are fine and she was perfect on the little half hour hack we went on before jumping, walk, trot and canter.
only thing i could think of was it was too hot, but it wasn't that warm

or maybe she just couldn't be bothered. i know she wasn't tired because whenever we got to the bottom of the paddock, she turned round and cantered back up to the gate to go home

Sorry to here you had a bad day!

It could be because of a lot of things really. If she doesn't normally jump she might just find it hard work and be trying it on a bit.

Start her off with poles on the floor and then put up a tiny cross and work your way up from there.

Hope you have better luck next time!

well i only have cross bits and cavalettis but i'll try her with cross poles next time.
she probably was jsut being difficult but it's not like her, she's usually as good as gold.
will it help if i put her over them with no rider first do you think?

she's probably not being naughty, just that she finds it a bit diffucult or just that she's not that confident.

Not sure about the no rider bit - I don't really know anything about loose jumping.

Don't worry about it too much, she might be fine next time you try her.

Really hard to give an opinion without knowing more. Probably best to leave it a week, try & again & IF there's still a problem, call in an instructor to give their opinion. Hope you get it sorted.

This has really made me chuckle.
I know she wasnt tired cos everytime we got to the bottom of the paddock she turned round & cantered back. !!!!! If you let her do exactly what she wants then why should she bother doing what you want?
So why is she refusing, Cos she can.
