I often wonder how horses that cost so much can ever leave home i.e. to compete or just for exercise. Just think of the risks.

But that's not really all that much, relatively speaking. Lots of jumpers and dressage horses, even eventers, change hands for many times that much and race horses for even more. Not how most of us live but hardly unusual. I even know a medium pony (what you would call a 138cm here) for $850,000 USD!
