On any other forum I probably wouldn't get away with this kind of explicit detail!

My maiden filly has just over 3 weeks until her due date and she has bagged up really well. She is a little unsure about her physical changes and where she was once ok with being touched all over, she is now increasingly sensitive in the belly and booby areas. I have only had her back a week - If I had known she was in foal I would have been doing this before she started to bag up, but I have missed a vital stage, the springing of the udders. Since she has been home I have been touching her all over a couple of times a day to try and de-sensitise her. It doesn't seem to be having much effect though as she is still lashing out at me

I need to get her through this barrier before her foal arrives, as she really is uber sensitive there and may possibly kick the foal off. I will keep going with the touching and the tickle stick (bendy pole with lots of wadding and a glove on it as I really would like to keep my ears a bit longer), but has anyone got any other ideas? (anything is worth a try).

One of our mares, (Ticky) who was NOT impressed with us touching her boobies, but did end up giving in, I just kept putting my hand there and did not move it until she stood still, then I removed my hand, kept out of kicking zone though, well she ended up a brill mum,

But Freckles who has always enjoyed you touching there, ie when you wash there, she looks like shes in excity, (sp)
well when she had her foal, she would not let him anywhere near her boobies!!! in the end we had to twitch her so he could suckle, and she squealed at him for a week, (bless him, hes a big stapping lad now)

so I would keep it up, trying to desensitise her, im sure she will give in (fingers crossed

Cloud is used to us touching her boobies......and normally she absolutely adores it. However at the moment, hers are starting to fill up and she is not overly keen on us touching them but she wouldn't ever kick and isn't too upset with us touching......I get the impression that they are just a little sensitive for her at the moment. Just like they are for us when we are pregnant.

I certainly don't overdo it with Cloud and I am very gentle with her teats and she seems to be less perturbed by the day so I think her body is growing into them and she is getting more used to them.
