Anyone recommend any good strong durable fly rugs for a rug ripper. Nothing extortionately priced either! Thank you.

Would anyone reccomend a rambo protector for strength? How airy is this rug though is it quite light on the horse?

I'd go for either the Shires Sweet Itch Combo or the Rambo Sweet Itch Hoody. Even if your horse doesn't have SI. The first I've just received and am impressed at the strength of it. The SI hoody has been in use for 3 seasons almost and has survived a LOT of abuse from a SI mare, so if your horse is even a slightly itchy ned, I'd go for one of these or similar. The shires one is much cheaper, though. I got it from Saddle-up online, through Amazon and it was delivered exactly 48 hrs after ordering it - very impressed!

Yeah ditto the Rambo basically. My boy's a big lad and has been known to rip a cheapie rug to shreds in half a day; however his Rambo SI hoody is in its third year of use and still intact.

Yes they are expensive, but worth it IMO.

OR you could have a look at Premier Equine; their rugs are good & serviceable, and last well. And cheaper too.

Personally I've given up on the cheap and cheerful fly rugs - had an Amigo Mio and the flippin thing was a waste of money, just didn't last.

My guy is 6'/6'3 unfortunately. Funnily enough lady at my yard has a Rambo Protector that she was throwing out has one large rip and few small ones I will sow but as he is a rug ripper anyways it doesn't matter. If it lasts then I will buy a new one!

Rambo protector :) one of mine is always ripping my others bug rugs. This has stood up to his assaults :) so much so my friend went and bought 3 for her horses, so everyone is matching!
