So... Rias had lots of trouble with her feet recently after her farrier wrecked them! Got a lovely new farrier who is having to build her foot up as there is no hoof to nail the shoe to left!

Anyway, I managed to ride her just once after a month or so off before she ripped her shoe off again! she went amazing, she has never felt as good to ride before, I'm just so sad that she needs more time off again, I just know she could be amazing if only we had the time :(

Isn't she amazing, her canter is just to die for!

She's beautiful! :D

I've also had trouble with a farrier really messing up one of my horse's hooves. Do you have any photos of your mare's hooves? I would be very interested in seeing them if you do.

My mare is now well on the road to recovery, but it's taken a very long time. I hope that your mare recovers soon. :)

And are there any other ways to prevent her ripping her shoe off other than over reach boots?

Yes, to trim and shoe the the horse correctly - so that the hooves are properly balanced and with the correct breakover.

When the breakover is wrong (generally due to long toes), the horse will catch the back of the shoes with the hind hooves as it moves.

Very interesting photos, thanks for posting them. Did the farrier put the shoe on and then fill in the holes? Is she footy at all now?

She is pretty. :D

what he did was nail the shoe on with one nail either side, glued it and made a hoof for her (its worse than it looks!) then nailed the shoe onto the glue then glued over the nails again! so far so good, shes kept it on for 5 days so far! and some numpty has been feeding her molasses so shes been off her rocker for the past 2 days!
