Arrgh! Had my new man a week and he's already managed to destroy a brand new t/o rug (weatherbeeta) so now I'm on the hunt for something tougher but not too pricey in case he decides another game with his new buddies is in order.

Any suggestions? don't want to spend too much until I understand whether I've got a real rug ripper on my hands but prepared to look second hand too!

try the premier equine sale, they are in my experience fairly indestructable! i ordered one in the sale last week and it was on my pony within 2 days!

Either Rambo or PE

Playing stallions is such good fun! ;-)

lol! isn't it just - think his friend may have been swinging him around by his rug, I'd say he lost this particular game of stallions but at least no blood shed. Prefer buying a new rug to a vet call out any day!

Interesting about PE, i'd never really considered them and my YO gets a discount with them so shall tootle off and take a look.

PE are very good, and the best I have found. However unfortunately no rug is indestructable when it comes to my boy!

My horse has just had his weatherbeta rug ripped to shreds by his mate! Lol His lightweight weatherbeta was destroyed in no time as well so I'm starting to think perhaps they aren't very good? Isn't it the denier you go by in terms of toughness or have I got that wrong? I can't decide whether to get a PE one or the Horsewear Bravo plus rug which has 1200 denier. I have an old Masta heavy weight which touch wood has survived! Lol I to am worried about spending a fortune on one then they rip it in no time.

My delightful field ornament has so far destroyed my (other horse's) Rambo Plus Heavyweight rug, and yesterday he was witnessed tearing beyond repair his neighbours Mark Todd Heavyweight. I now have to buy his neighbour a replacement!

This morning I worked in the pouring rain to re-arrange his fencing, and he's now enclosed in a double-fenced paddock so that hopefully that'll be end of the rug ripping.

I agree Rambo is the best.
But when my gelding was young and did I ended up buying a couple of cheap £25 rugs they had full hoods, layered when cold.
I taped them up when ripped, then when wrecked replaced!

FAL Viking rugs were the only thing my sisters cob didn't destroy. Don't think you can get them new anymore but there might be some secondhand ones about? x
