And the rider even doffs his bowler hat as he pulls up at the end!

ITV4 liked it so much, they not only had it in their live coverage yesterday (supplied by TDF television) but included it in their closing credits of their one hour-long edited highlights programme shown at 7pm and 11pm last night.

Well done that man and horse!

I thought it was brilliant too. They had a similar one on the original titles but the rider looked more like a cowboy and it was in France. However this english gent looked fantastic on his beautiful chestnut hunter. What a brave thing to do and what a great partnership!

My old girl would never have cantered alongside like that - she would have been yards out in front and keeping everyone behind her. One time we were strolling along a lane and a couple of mountain bikes went past us. She took off after them immediately, much to my embarrassment. She always had to be in the lead, the silly old fool.

My lad would have been in the next county had he seen those bikes. Hates them!
Lovely to watch - were the audience cheering the cyclists or the horse?!

that's brilliant, my daughter and two of her friends were there with their ponies, they rode up to high beech to see them come past, I was hoping the cameras would pick them up but sadly they decided to film the centre of London just as they went past lol.

I remember this happening during the Olympics as well and it looks like the same place and the same horse/rider, I think it was a H&H member, I cannot find the video on YouTube though but I did find these two!

Horse escapes from the field to join in

Racing alongside them, or bolting, a tumble from 1 rider and then quite a nasty fall for another pony and rider, hopefully they were all okay

What a great horse - didn't put a foot wrong (I would have been last seen broncing off into the corn with mine).

Good heavens, those riders could have been killed. As for the poor horse that jumped the fence and tanked off with the race, if I'd been it's owner, I'd have been blooming furious. I suspect other horses and livestock are injured during these races. The organisers should take more care.
