Towbar damage ?

Not having a lot of luck with towbars at the moment.

Last month someone up the yard reversed into my car with her towbar:


Then, yesterday on the way to visit my parents before Xmas, someone drove into the back of our 4x4 hitting the towbar (it‘ll be checked by a garage before it is used again)

Some numpty rearended my truck in their teeny transit. I was stationary at the back of a queue and she didn't seem to notice. Piled into me at 30mph. Claimed she sneezed and missed the fact that we'd all been stopped for several seconds, then refused to give me her name. She would only give me her warrant card number.........

Anyway once I could see past the clouds of steam and lakes of oil, my truck appeared virtually undamaged, but the collision has sheared through three of the four half-inch bolts holding the towbar to the chassis, so a check of hidden damage on yours is a good idea in my experience,

My advice to you would be to get it completely replaced as their could be a microscopic stress fracture crack somewhere in it which is not visually detectable but could cause it to suddenly fracture in use.

Sympathy here - someone kindly removed my husband's mirror yesterday, while his car was parked. He'd tucked the mirror in, too! Didn't stop or leave a note. Nice...
