Don't want to get into debates about what car etc, as total weight if trailer and pay leaves me with 800kg spare capacity, but would it be worth spending extra for an AWD compared to a 2 wd? Never been stuck yet but it plays on my mind that ut could happen ..

Having towed for many years with 2WD, and now having two AWD vehicles, I’d never go back to towing with 2WD.

Yes, you can get stuck with 2WD, even on road, if you have to do a hill start on a steep rise to a junction. That is not fun when you’ve got a horse up 😳. The pair of driving wheels spinning and no traction…

That’s in addition to better being able to get off a verge with AWD if you have to pull partially over on a narrow section of road because of oncoming traffic.

Yes this for sure, if you tow anywhere hilly or have to park on grass, I'd go 4WD if it's an option. Assuming you can afford the extra money it does make life much easier (and less scary!)
