Towing a caravan with a 3.5t lorry ???

Thinking of getting a 3.5t lorry, but they usually have little or living for stay-away shows.

Does anyone know if it's ok to tow a caravan behind them (as this would be the ideal solution) or is there some issue with the weights or the like ???

Ps, I'm an 'oldie' driver so the towing and weight thing won't affect me.

I'm pretty sure you'll have weight issues.

A girl on our yard (also on the older license) had a caravan behind hers when going to Riding Club camp.
She got pulled very soon after setting off and had to make her weigh to the police weigh bridge.

Outcome? She had to unhitch the caravan and leave it there.

She had a 16.2 TB and a 14.1 cob on board the box, if that helps.

It sounds to me like some policeman didnt know what he was talking about(they rarely do when it comes to trailers.
Provided the gross train weight is not exceeded you are ok.
This is not the same as gross vehicle weight.However you must have the right driving license for the combination.
The experts are the VOSA enforcement officers at your local goods vehicle test station.They would be more that happy to advise you.

Yes you should be ok as Mike 007 says... you need to know how much your caravan weighs and the horseboxes max allowable train weight which is the box, its load and what its towing.. then you will know if its ok or not... hope this helps
