Towing a trailer - do you just slap an 'L' plate on?!

Sorry if this has been asked before, i am hoping to start having some trailer lessons soon and then eventually do my test.

I know that i can tow with someone with me who is legally able to tow a trailer with 'L' plates on but other than checking my insurance and slapping a couple of L plates on is there anything else you have to do before you can be let loose on the road?!

So long as you have a full and valid licence then nope, L plates and away you go

Nope that is it. Do make sure the person accompanying you is quite competent,as you dont want someone who will make you nervous!

Im 22, mum rang the DVLA and thats all they said to do! Its quite tricky putting Lplates on the back of my trailer tho..they keep falling off
Its stupid b/c neither her nor my dad are happy towing , but they are legally allowed to and I like towing, but need to do the test. GRR!
