Towing Capacity

According to the spec for a 1991 model, the kerb weight is just over 2000kg. Towing recommendations are that you don't tow more than 85% of the kerb weight, which would be 1700kg. A large Ifor trailer is about 1000kg, plus one large horse, means you are well within that. The towing capacity is 3500kg, but this just means the weight that it will move starting from a certain incline, not how much weight you can safely tow. It sounds like you should be fine though with a 15.3 horse

This only applies to single axle un braked trailers, not the sort of trailer we use these days.
This recommendation was made by the caravan club some years ago when the caravans towed were often single axle with poor brakes and highly unstable in any cross wind.
The modern horse trailer is a different animal completely

they have a towing capacity of 3.5tonnes but i wouldn't ever want to exceed the kerb weight which is 2 tonnes - that is still enough for a 510 and 2 horses.
