hi looking for a new family car, needs to be used daily with work, dogs and kid and for shows, hunting at the weekend. ie how good on fuel/ diesel and reliability and towing. locally have a discovery to see and jeep cherokee? your views would be very helpful, thank you

Have a discovery Diesel auto, I love it for towing, its stable and easy to drive, down side is it is quite thursty about 25 to gal.

We are on our 3rd Jeep cherokee and I can highly recommend. The previous 2 were pretty good on fuel really 32+ mpg without trailer dropping to around 27mpg with.
new one is automatic and DEFINITELY loads thirstier (aarrgghh)

i have a jeep cherokee and i love it - its automatic and very easy to tow my 2 big neds with - no probs at all. Wouldnt change it ( well maybe for a range rover if i win the lottery)!

I have a disco td5 auto,it has some issues,but dont they all

Diesel Discovery. If you want an auto you would ideally want a Dicso 3; the TD5s and Disco IIs are a bit underpowered. Perhaps not the most reliable car in the world, but Jeeps aren't either. If you want reliability, get a Shogun! We are big fans of Discoveries and have two in the family at the moment.
