Anyone else tow a trailer with a Dodge Nitro? Its spec says:

2.8 engine car
Gross vehicle weight – 2520kg
Max load weight - 505kg
Max tow weight (braked) 2394
Max tow weight (unbraked) 750
Min kerb weight – 2015

My trailer is the 2004 Cheval Liberte (double trailer) and it says the unladen weight of this is 740 (gross max 2000kg).

It would be travelling a 16.1 TB (lightweight), a 16hh arab (dainty) or a youngster (one at any one time)

Would this 4x4 be suitable or not? x

Ask ROG but I think so.

Do you have this vehicle already or are you looking at it? We looked at one, and they are VERY thirsty.

Thanks Dixie, I will do :D

Just looking at the moment Kat, I've looked at mpg and its better then my TT so anything a bonus  we already have a new L200 which my husband has (which originally was for us to share and he was going to use my TT but he really just doesnt fit into it) he's now in love with the L200 so although I can steal it as and when Ive got shows I want something day to day I can just hitch up and go without plannning/swapping cars for the day :)

Another L200 would probably be more economical...... we ended up with a Nissan Navara and I'm very happy with the choice. We liked the L200 but couldn't quite stretch the budget for the newest model, and the older ones were a bit more basic and less comfy than the Nav.

I seem to remember that the Dodge is expensive on Tax and Insurance and a bit of a pain for parts too.

Ahh, oh really? The L200 is really cheap to tax and diesel really good ... another option is to sell the TT and me to have the L200 - then he can buy a normal man car ... arghhhh decisions

I'm pretty sure that the L200 tax will be less than the nitro as it classes as a van rather than a private car. We had a Sorrento briefly and that cost loads more to tax than our Navara.

Why not suggest that you have the L200 and he gets a small 4x4 like a Honda CRV if a second 4x4 would be useful.

I towed a 511 with chunk in mine. Only sold it as have got 3 growing children and really needed 7 seats. I loved mine, not least because there are not many around, have got a disco 3 now - common as muck!!!!

Thanks for all the comments guys ... yes the dodge seems OK at 30mpg (combined) I think the L200 does around 38 and my TT is something like 28/30 will keep thinking  xx
