Looking to purchase IW 511 to carry 2 x 16.2 and shogun sport 2.5 - has anyone towed with one as on certain sites it says its towing capacity is 2800kg and I think my weight will be somewhere in the region of 3500kg
 
How on earth are you getting to 3500kg?! Very rough estimates but a 511 will be circa 1100-1200kg and two 16.2hhs depending on breed - maybe 600/700kg each? So approximate worst case scenario would be 2500kg. Close to 2800kg but still a ton short of 3500kg.

FWIW, I have a Shogun on the same spec and it doesn’t even feel what’s behind it when hitched, although granted I don’t pull anything near 2500kg atm so prob a moot point. I am sure ROG will be along to advise very shortly :)
 
I have a shogun LWB at the moment and picking up my new (to me!) Shogun Sport this Sat!

I also wouldn't say your towing weight will be anywhere near 3.5 tonnes! IW511 are around 1 tonne. Lets say the horses are 600kgs each that only adds up to 2200kgs. Way within the weights.

The Shogun Sport has a towing capacity of 2800kgs, but be aware that it only actually weights 2500kgs. That is the weight I work to.
 
HB511 is 1000 kgs unladen/empty according to the IFOR site

PS - I assume this is being driven under B+E licence/supervising rules?
