Am a very lucky lady and am buying an Ifor 510 this week and using a 2008 reg. Chrysler Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland to tow with. It's heavy and juicy enough to tow BUT am confused about having a Jeep dedicated electrics pack?

Our 4x4 has a reverse camera, reverse/parking sensors, ESP etc. etc. The dedicated kit is supposed to know that these are there when hitched and turns off the sensors when it tunes itself into the engine management system. I have heard conflicting views on a dedicated wiring kit. Some manufacturers say if you don't have it, your warranty is void and other people I've spoken to say not to bother.

Does anyone have any experience please. Thanks.

I have a newish Defender. It doesn't have all that fancy kit but its the best towing vehicle I have ever used. Do the trailer electics not just plug into the car electrics by the tow bar then?

Yes trailer elecs do plug into car elecs by towbar but we don't have a towbar so having one fitted. That's been confusing choosing a towbar too! Fixed or detatchable, height adjustable.....who knows so will leave it to hubby and the experts!

If you do have it fitted make sure it is done properly/professionally. Ours is a real pigs breakfast - and it has been to the garage many times to stop the reversing sensors from bleeping continuously when reversing the trailer.
